<p>We wanted to take a minute to express our deepest thanks to all of you. Released just this morning, Business Review Weekly (BRW) has listed its Fast Starters 2012. And we&#8217;re beyond thrilled to be listed in the Top 100.</p>
<p>We were fortunate enough to score 39th position, which has placed us at 6th place within the category of retailer, Australia wide.</p>
<p>As a business, we couldn&#8217;t have done it without you. From humble beginnings, we&#8217;ve quickly risen to be at the forefront of photographic retailing, and its only going to get better from here.</p>
<p>Over the next 12 months and beyond, we will continue to focus on delivery the warmest, most knowledgable and helpful service, while continuing to lead the market on pricing.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p align="LEFT">Compact camera systems are becoming more and more prevalent, especially as they become more intuitive and powerful. There are a wide range of Compact Camera Systems now available, Sony, Pentax, Nikon, Panasonic, Olympus, Ricoh, Fuji. These systems have exploded in popularity in Japan and Britain, but have taken a while to gain popularity overseas.</p>
<p>In this buyer&#8217;s guide, we&#8217;ll look at some of the best Compact Camera Systems on offer and what&#8217;s best depending on your skill level and/or feature set.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Point and Shoot</strong></span><br />
This range is considered a step up from your high-end compact. They do not have the advanced movie features and feature accessibility that their higher end counterparts. They do, however, feature similar sized sensors and similar image quality. These cameras are not comfortable to use in a manual configuration and are really designed to run semi-automatically.</p>
<p align="LEFT"><strong>Nikon 1 Series</strong><br />
The Nikon 1 Series sits at the bottom of the range, these cameras are designed to be used in a similar way to a compact camera. These cameras will also accept a wide-range of currently existing Nikon lenses through the use of an adapter. The V1 and the J1 are quite well-equipped for video compared to their other beginner-level competition. The Nikon1 can record video at full HD, 1080p60i. Videos look great when played back even on the biggest of televisions.</p>

<p align="LEFT">Easy to operate and capable of capturing higher-quality images than possible in a compact. The Nikon 1 is aimed squarely at people who want a camera they can simply pick up and use. The 2.7x, 10 megapixel, CMOS sensor is one of the smaller on the market. Smaller than the micro 4/3rds standard used in the Panasonic and Olympus range of cameras. The camera makes up for this with a lightening fast hybrid auto-focus system and capturing images at 10 frames a second.</p>

<p>The Nikon FT-1 adapter will allow photographers to use their existing Nikon DSLR lenses. With a 2.7 crop factor, the FT-1 can turn a 300mm lens into an 810mm lens. The fast auto-focus makes this combination a winner for budding sports or wildlife photographers.</p>

<p><strong>Olympus E-PL3</strong><br />
The E-PL3 is a popular choice, due to it&#8217;s low cost and the already existing lens range for micro 4/3rds cameras. The build quality is fairly standard and the camera offers very little in the way of buttons and dials, with users having to dive through menus to change settings. The larger micro 4/3rds sensor allows better low-light performance, dynamic range and depth of field over the Nikon 1 Series.</p>

<p>A larger range of lenses are available in the Micro 4/3rds mount than any other mirrorless mount. Sigma, Tokina and Tamron all make lenses for Micro 4/3rds cameras, this makes the E-PL3 an attractive option for those on a budget, saving money with third party lenses. The 12.3 megapixel CMOS sensor is capable of capturing images as good as many DSLRs and sports good dynamic range and suitable low-light performance. But don&#8217;t expect the E-PL3 to be breaking any records, the camera is somewhat slower than it&#8217;s bigger brother, the E-P3.</p>

</strong></span>The &#8220;amateur&#8221; camera range paints a broad stroke. Many will simply like the improvement in build quality gained in this range, not to mention easier access to manual controls with more dials and buttons than the &#8220;point and shoot&#8221; range of mirrorless cameras. This range is similar to the point and shoot range in terms of image quality and low-light performance.</p>
<p><strong> Panasonic GX1</strong><br />
Panasonic&#8217;s GX1 is one of the latest additions to the Mirrorless market, its ergonomic design makes it easy and fun to use. The retro design is made to appeal to photographic enthusiasts and stylish amateurs. It does not have the same accessability of features that many of the higher-end enthusiast systems sport. Meaning that many features can only be changed by diving through the camera&#8217;s menu systems.</p>

<p><strong>Sony NEX-5N</strong><br />
The Sony NEX-5N is a great value for money video shooter. The NEX-5N can shoot at full HD 1080p at 60FPS. This makes it great for shooting sports in full HD, with programs such as &#8220;twixtor&#8221; easily slowing down 1080/60p to extremely fast frame rates. This has made high-end slow motion affordable for the average consumer and the NEX-5N perfect for those who like to capture action.</p>

<p>One of the key selling points of the Sony NEX cameras, is the larger APS-C size, 16 megapixel CMOS sensor. This puts the NEX-5N on a level playing field with most enthusiast DSLRs in regards to image quality. The NEX-5N does extremely well in low light and high-contrast scenes. Sony&#8217;s image processor produces vivid colour and crisp detail. The NEX-5N is recommended for anyone shooting video or looking for a compact system camera capable of professional results.</p>

The enthusiast level of camera in the mirrorless compact systems offer better manual control without having to dig through menus. These cameras typically have a greater number of dials and buttons to allow for this improved manual control. The bodies are typically constructed from an alloy, rather than plastic, making them a lot more robust than lower-end models.</p>
<p align="LEFT"><strong>Sony NEX-7</strong><br />
The Sony NEX-7 is the NEX-5N&#8217;s bigger brother. Major differences are the in-built viewfinder as well extra buttons and dials for easier access to camera functions. The in-built viewfinder makes composing shots in bright daylight much easier.The NEX-7 retains the slim-line design and features the same, large APS-C (crop) sensor as it&#8217;s cheaper counterpart. The NEX cameras offer some of the best dynamic range, ISO performance and colour, simply due to the larger sensor size. The Sony NEX cameras also adapt well to other lens mounts, with many adapters already available.</p>

<p align="LEFT">As with the NEX-5N, the Sony NEX-7 is capable of high speed, 60p, full HD video. Something that many other brands are yet to introduce. The viewfinder makes composing video during the day easier without third party shades and loupe viewers. This compact package is surprisingly powerful, rivaling professional DSLRs with both its large 24.3 megapixel sensor and astounding low-light performance. At the time of writing this article, it could be said that the NEX-7 is the closest thing to a &#8220;professional&#8221; mirrorless camera.</p>

The Olympus EP3 is the latest addition to Olympus&#8217; &#8220;Pen&#8221;range of mirrorless cameras. The micro 4/3rds mount already has large consumer base with many lenses, accessories and adaptors already available. The EP3&#8242;s 4/3rds sensor is much smaller than the APS-C sensor used in the NEX7 and X-PRO1 cameras, losing ISO performance, dynamic range and depth of field as a result. Nevertheless, the retro design, small size and large consumer following means this system will most likely be preferable for street photographers and hobbyists.</p>

The original, the E-P1, enjoyed success in the Japanese and British markets, still two of the largest mirrorless adopters since the camera&#8217;s inception. The retro design appealed to many, requiring a more elegant alternative to the workhorse DSLR design we have all become accustomed to. The Olympus PEN series has a wide range of official and third party lenses, it is one of the most &#8220;mature&#8221; lines of all mirrorless brands.</p>

<p><strong>Fuji X-Pro1</strong><br />
The Fuji X-PRO1 is the latest addition at the time of writing. This camera features a large, APS-C sensor with Fuji&#8217;s new &#8220;X-Trans&#8221; technology. This technology allows the camera to achieve almost Full-Frame equivalent tonal range and colour. The X-Pro1 retains the hybrid viewfinder from the X100 camera, allowing the user to switch instantaneously between an optical viewfinder and EVF. The magnesium chasis indicates a higher build quality than much of the competition. Bearing more resemblance to the much higher end Leica M series of cameras.</p>

<p>Fuji have also launched a range of prime lenses alongside the X-Pro1. The 18mm f/2, a 35, f/1.4 and a 60mm f/2.4 macro lens. Fuji has already laid out plans for an extensive lens range beyond 2012, with a 14mm f/4, a 28mm f/2.8, 23mm f/2, 70-200mm f/4 IS and a 12-20mm f/4 IS. Judging by this roadmap, it is clear Fuji are taking mirrorless seriously and the X-Pro1 will likely be the camera system to watch in 2012.</p>

<p><strong>Olympus OM-D</strong><br />
The Olympus OM-D is one the newest additions to the mirrorless line-up. Unlike other cameras though, it is weather-sealed. Allowing for operation in light rain, snow or dust. It ships with a 12-50mm lens, that is also weather-sealed, it is not recommended to use non weather-sealed lenses if you wish to use this feature. Aside from the sealing, the camera also sports an impressive sensor and a very high continuous shooting speed at 9 frames per second.</p>

The camera features an articulating screen and does not have a built-in flash, instead, Olympus have packaged an external flash in the box.</p>

<p>Compact system cameras have taken off in the past few months, with most of the major companies having already announced a system to compete in this range. Mirrorless solutions may very well overtake DSLRs in popularity in amateur and enthusiast markets. Fuji&#8217;s X-Pro1 system proves that professional photographers can also expect to see some mirrorless options that suit their needs. Whatever happens, these cameras have certainly found their feet, after a less-than-stellar introduction two years ago the market for these cameras has only increased.</p>

<p align="LEFT">Medium format was once the dominant format, long before the first 35mm rangefinders and SLRs were available. These days, it is much more of a niche market. Ever since the creation of medium format system cameras in the 1950&#8242;s, professionals have preferred this format for its improved tonal gradation and colour. These days, large megapixel counts also pad out the feature list, making these cameras the only option for shooting incredibly large prints.</p>
<p align="LEFT">In this guide, we will look at some of the different systems, digital backs and accessories that make up the medium format range of cameras. We can make recommendations, but inevitably everybody&#8217;s style of shooting is different. We hope, that by using this guide, we can help you make the right choice when buying your medium format system.</p>
<h3 align="LEFT">Digital Camera Backs</h3>
<p align="LEFT">An increase in the sensor size results in an image with more tonal range and colour depth. This is very important for fashion photographers, who are photographing something that may contain a lot of different, but similar colours, fine detail and uneven lighting. Retaining detail in the darker and lighter areas is made easier with the larger sensor.</p>

<p align="LEFT">Medium format sensors are much larger than your standard 35mm or APS-C sized sensor. This allows them to resolve a wider range of tones in any given scene. Allowing photographers to discern the difference between shades of the same colour and allowing for more pleasing and dynamic black and white images.</p>
<p align="LEFT">These larger sensors also allow for high megapixel counts, although not all photographers will find much use for a 200 megapixel sensor. In the following write-up we will cover some of the Phase One backs and camera systems and weigh up sensor size vs megapixel count and look at what’s best for different specializations.</p>
<p align="LEFT"><strong>Phase One P+ Digital Back Range.</strong><br />
Phase One have produced a range of digital backs since their inception. The initial tethered Digital Scan Backs were released from 1996-2001. These were painfully slow in comparison to what’s available today and improvements to their range have not slowed. The company soon followed with their H series, then the P series then finally the P+ series which are still on sale today.</p>

The P+ range of digital backs are not the newest addition to Phase One’s lineup however. The new IQ backs, released earlier this year, are the latest digital backs available. These backs feature a larger, clearer, touch-screen display, improved capture rates and improved processing technology.</p>

<h3 align="LEFT">Camera Systems</h3>
<p align="LEFT"><strong><a href="http://camerapro.net.au/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=645DF">Phase One 645DF</a></strong><br />
The <a href="http://camerapro.net.au/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=645DF">Phase One 645DF</a> is one of the more common bodies on the market. Many using this in conjunction with one of the many Phase One backs. These cameras use the Mamiya mount, meaning users can choose from a range of <a href="http://camerapro.net.au/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=Mamiya+Lens">Mamiya</a>, <a href="http://camerapro.net.au/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=Phase+One+Lens">Phase One</a> and <a href="http://camerapro.net.au/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=Schneider">Schneider</a> lenses. the ergonomic grip can be enhanced further with the Phase One V-Grip, which also adds a vertically oriented grip and shutter release for shooting in a portrait aspect.</p>

<p align="LEFT">The <a href="http://camerapro.net.au/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=645DF">645DF</a>s are autofocus capable and sport inbuilt timers and features similar to those found on a modern DSLR system. These are handy for photographers who shoot free of tripods, requiring mobility and the ability to shift angle at a moment&#8217;s notice. This is especially useful for wedding photographers, who spend a good deal of their time on their feet, moving around a wedding. A stationary system would be of little use.</p>
<p align="LEFT"><strong>Other Frames/Landscape Photography</strong><br />
A landscape photographer typically works on a tripod, so a system camera with autofocus capabilities is not a &#8220;must have.&#8221; Instead, frames that offer tilt-shift capabilities are best, giving the photographer fine control over focus and lens distortion. Such frames as the Wide DS from Cambo are perfect for the photographer who wants a reliable, working frame with a host of lens options. There are more ornate options such as the Alpa 12 WA with rosewood handles, for the photographer who wants something that looks a little less utilitarian. There are also compact frames such as the Cambo WRS-1050 for those who are a little more mobile. Picking a frame is a personal decision and really depends on how you shoot.</p>

<p align="LEFT">Just like picking a frame, picking a lens mount is also a very personal decision. There are a wide range of lens mounts including Mamiya, Hasselblad and Schneider. Whichever brand is preferred, the typical wide-angle landscape shot is take with a 35mm, 28mm or an 18mm ultra-wide lens. It is not as important for the landscape photographer to purchase a leaf shutter over a focal plane shutter, when the goal is to get as much in-focus as possible. Small apertures are mostly used so fast shutter speeds are also unnecessary. Of course, everyone is different and there are many ways to photograph a landscape.</p>
<p align="LEFT"><strong><a href="http://camerapro.net.au/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=Pentax+645D">Pentax 645D</a></strong><br />
The <a href="http://camerapro.net.au/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=Pentax+645D">pentax 645D</a> is a significantly cheaper body when compared to other options. It is in no way an incapable camera though. The closed design makes it light, portable, yet robust. The <a href="http://camerapro.net.au/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=Pentax+645D">Pentax 645D</a> will take a range of Pentax lenses, including the older, manual focus <a href="http://camerapro.net.au/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=645N">645N</a> series of lens. These bodies do not accept other backs, only the 40 megapixel back included.</p>

<p align="LEFT"><strong>Mamiya RZ Series</strong><br />
These systems are based on the highly regarded Mamiya RB-67 and RZ-67 cameras. Now, these systems come standard with a digital back, the RZ22 features a 22 megapixel back, the RZ33 sports a 33 megapixel back and so on.The benefits of an RZ system are the selection of viewfinders, where many system cameras have done away with large ground-glass screens and waist-level finders, the Mamiya RZ system continues this form factor. They come standard with a waist-level finder, which are fantastic for fine focus adjustment.</p>

<p align="LEFT"><strong>Mamiya DM Series<br />
</strong>The Mamiya DM Series of digital medium format bodies are at the cheaper end of the spectrum when compared to the Phase One 645DF. These cameras come bundled with Mamiya&#8217;s &#8220;M&#8221; backs, starting at 22 megapixels with the DM22 system, with higher-end models sporting 28 and 33 megapixel backs. The Phase One design of the 645DF is based on the earlier Mamiya AFD bodies and these bodies use the same lens mount. This is great for medium-format beginners, with access to legacy lenses on the second-hand market.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that different backs will affect the actual focal length of any lens. A smaller sensor will slightly magnify the image for example. <p><strong>Wide-Angle<br />
</strong>Wide-angle lenses are associated mostly with landscape photography. Obviously, their use is not limited to this one field, but it is the field most associated with wide-angle photography. There are a few focal lengths that are important to note, 18mm, 28mm and 35mm. Depending on the situation, leaf or focal shutter may be preferred. Most landscape photographs are are still subjects taken with a small aperture usually at f/8 or above. This negates the benefit of a leaf shutter lens, that typically offers less motion distortion and faster shutter speeds. Landscape photographers can usually save money by choosing a focal shutter lens instead of a leaf shutter. Likewise, both Pentax and Mamiya mount lenses will take older, manual focus lenses, these can be purchased for cheap, second-hand, for those on a budget.</p>

<p>Popular wide-angle lenses include the Phase One 28mm, the 18mm and the Schneider 35mm. With a larger focal length, there is usually less distortion. While this can be fixed in post, many photographers prefer to shoot with the narrower 28mm or 35mm in order to avoid a large amount of distortion in the corners of the photo. The size of the camera sensor is also important to note, an 18mm, for instance, would equate to 23.4mm on the p40+ back. You can refer to the chart below this section to get an idea of magnification factors with different lenses and digital backs.</p>
<p><strong>Portrait, Telephoto<br />
</strong>There are a variety of lenses for medium format photographers to select from. Within the Mamiya, Phase One and Schneider range we have the 45mm, 80mm, 110mm and the 120mm. There is obviously a much wider selection of lenses than those listed in this article and in the table below. Voightlander, Hartblei and many others make lenses to suit the Mamiya mount. Pentax users can also look forward to a range of older 645N lenses, still made brand new and drastically cheaper than their auto-focus equivalents.</p>
<p>A leaf shutter is a huge boon to any photography where movement is a factor. The smoother, quieter shutter operation helps when shooting handheld, lacking the violent camera shake generated by focal plane shutters. A leaf shutter lens will allow for higher sync speeds as well, needed to capture action or fast moving subjects. Portrait photographers should also consider lens distortion, for instance, a wider angle lens, such as a 45mm, will distort facial features. Whilst this can be fixed in post, it is generally recommended that portrait photographers use larger focal lengths. One of the most popular choices is the Schneider 80mm 2.8 LS (Leaf Shutter).<strong></strong></p>

<p><strong>Sydney, 2 March, 2011:</strong> Canon Australia has today unveiled the latest addition to its market-defining EOS range: the Canon EOS 5D Mark III. <p><strong>Top-class image quality</strong></p>
<p>The EOS 5D Mark III incorporates Canon&#8217;s full-frame CMOS sensor that delivers image output of unparalleled quality, but now with an increased megapixel count of 22.3. Understanding that image quality goes beyond a simple pixel count, Canon engineers have achieved a balance between resolution and low noise.</p>
<p>The sensor incorporates photo diodes with excellent photoelectric conversion efficiency, together with gapless micro lenses, greatly improving light receiving efficiency.</p>
<p>Image quality is further enhanced by the new-generation DiG!C 5+ image processor. An advanced new algorithm has been developed that more effectively removes noise, improving results when shooting at high ISO settings.</p>
<p>The processing speed is approximately 1.3 times faster than before, delivering improved performance, excellent image quality and more advanced image processing capabilities. The standard ISO range has been expanded by two stops to a standard range of 100 to 25600,delivering a camera that is ideal for capturing everything from outdoor night scenes and portraits to fast-moving action, all with very low noise.</p>
<p>The camera offers Full HD EOS Movie which also makes use of the heightened quality of the sensor and image processor, delivering footage with reduced colour artefacts and moiré.</p>
<p><strong>Uncompromising specifications</strong></p>
<p>Canon understands the varying demands of advanced photographers and has incorporated a high- precision, super multi-point AF system that delivers superior results under a wide variety of shooting conditions. The EOS 5D Mark III&#8217;s new 61-point reticular AF system, includes up to 41 cross-type focus points.2Extra points have been positioned to the left and right of the centre frame, giving photographers greater and more precise, accuracy and compositional freedom.</p>
<p>The EOS 5D Mark III offers up to approximately 6.0 frames-per-second continuous shooting speed, with a release time of approximately 0.59ms providing users with the ability to shoot anything from fast-moving action to candid portraits.</p>
<p>The EOS 5D Mark III&#8217;s comprehensive range of features and technologies are housed in a sturdy magnesium-alloy body, providing a balance between reduced weight and superior protection. Dust and water resistance have been improved through the addition of water- resistant seals around buttons, dials and strap hooks. The camera&#8217;s shutter is rated at approximately 150,000 cycles, ensuring reliable performance over time.</p>
<p>Rounding out the body is an intelligent viewfinder offering<br />
approximately 100% coverage. This is achieved through the pursuit of<br />
easy viewing using a 0.71x magnification and a 21mm eye point, to naturally reflect the view of the naked eye.</p>

<p>To support the desire of many photographers to push the boundaries of their technique and experience the joy of full creative photographic expression, Canon has introduced a range of new features that allow exploration of new techniques.</p>
<p>The EOS 5D Mark III incorporates a new High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode to enable greater creative expression. The camera captures three images of a single scene at different exposures and then merges them automatically to create a single HDR image. Four additional, in-camera special picture effects (Art Standard, Art Vivid, Art Bold and Art Embossed) allow even greater creative freedom.</p>
<p>For photographers looking for even more creative expression, the EOS 5D Mark III also offers two multiple exposure modes: function/control priority for composed multi-exposure images and continuous shooting priority mode for multiple exposures of a moving subject. This is the first time such a feature has been available in an EOS camera, enabling photographers to combine between two and nine images in a simple image in continuous shooting mode or four in function/control priority mode.</p>
<p>To accompany the launch of the EOS 5D Mark III, Canon has released a range of accessories that further enhance the camera&#8217;s capabilities and open up even more opportunities for photographers, especially for those on the move.</p>
<p>The BG-E11 Battery Grip has been designed for enhanced capability and comfort, enabling high performance when shooting horizontally and vertically. Capable of housing 2 x LP-E6 and 6 x AA batteries, the BG-E11 has the addition of the multi-controller and M-Fn button for easy and quick operation. The new Speedlite 600EX-RT, successor to the Speedlite 580EX II, is the first Canon Speedlite to offer wireless radio transmission. It also features a shorter recycle time and a wide 20mm to 200mm zoom range. Also available is the WFT-E7 Wireless File Transmitter that supports high- speed communication over 802.11a/b/g and n networks; and it can also be connected to high-speed wired Ethernet networks.</p>

<p>On Thursday the 16th of February both enthusiasts and professionals of the extended south-east Queensland photography scene arrived our level 1 CameraPro lighting showroom to attend the first hands-on showcase of the pre-production models of the Nikon D800 and one of the first on the D4 in Australia.</p>
<p>With attendance pushing close to 60 patrons, there was a warm sense of excitement to be one of the first of the Australian public to handle and test the cameras.</p>

All-the-while the Nikon D800&#8242;s faster, bigger brother – the D4, provides users with phenomenal image quality, ISO sensitivity (up to 18,00 nativley) and a barrage of new features including: the new XQD memory format, Ethernet connectivity, in-built wireless capabilities, and an unmatched burst rate of 10fps.</p>

Nikon will be exhibiting the D800 at the CP+ CAMERA &amp; PHOTO IMAGIING SHOW, to be held Thursday, February 9 through Sunday, February 12 in Yokohama, Japan. The D800 is also equipped with a number of new functions for a high level of added value, all in a compact and lightweight body.</p>
<p>In addition to a new Nikon FX-format CMOS image sensor and the new EXPEED 3 image-processing engine, specifically optimized for Nikon digital SLR cameras, the D800 is equipped with a new 91K-pixel (approximately 91,000 pixels) RGB sensor that supports the Advanced Scene Recognition System with its noteworthy advances in scene recognition performance. The camera is also equipped with a number of new functions, including Multi-area mode Full HD D-Movie that enables movie recording using either the FX-based movie format or the DX-based movie format.</p>

When a human face is detected in the frame, 3D Color Matrix Metering III bases exposure control on the brightness of that face so that the face is optimally exposed even with backlighting. In addition, the superior resolution of the metering sensor, which makes full use of an incredible 91,000 pixels, enables extremely precise analysis of the scene for more accurate control over autofocusing, auto exposure, i-TTL flash control, and auto white balance.

The FX-based movie format offers a shallow depth-of-field with an emphasis on blur characteristics while the DX-based movie format enables recording of movies that bring subjects closer when lenses with short focal lengths are used. The D800 is also equipped with a headphone jack and supports precise adjustment of microphone sensitivity. In addition, it supports simultaneous display of movies or the movie live view display in the camera monitor and on an external monitor. Further, the D800 responds to the needs of professionals who require uncompressed movie files with the ability to record movies directly to an external HDMI recorder in movie live view mode. The D800 also offers a time-lapse photography function that captures images at a selected interval and then combines the images to create a time-lapse movie that shows the changes in a particular scene that occur over time.</li>

<p>In-camera disabling of the aliasing and moiré pattern reduction operation performed by the optical low-pass filter built into the D800E allows light passing through a NIKKOR lens to strike photodiodes directly for even greater resolution. This makes this model optimal for landscape and artistic photography with which higher resolution and clear definition is demanded. With the exception of the modification indicated above, all other functions and characteristics are the same as with the D800.</p>

<p><strong>Mississauga, ON, January 9, 2012</strong> – FUJIFILM Canada Inc. proudly debuts the newest and most advanced addition to its premium, high quality X-Series digital camera line-up – the FUJIFILM X-Pro1 interchangeable lens digital camera system. The X-Pro1 follows in the footsteps of the X100 and X10 with its unique, trendy retro look and high quality finish.</p>
<p>With a brand new, custom developed 16MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS sensor<sup>TM</sup>, incorporating a newly developed filter array and Fujifilm’s proprietary EXR Processor technology, the FUJIFILM X-Pro1 is poised to deliver superlative image quality. Taking another decisive step into the premium camera market, Fujifilm has taken the X-Pro1 to the next level featuring a New Hybrid Multi Viewfinder and three prime interchangeable FUJINON lenses.The FUJIFILM X-Pro1 digital camera not only promises to carve out a distinct position in the premium camera category, but it also promises to reward X-Series loyalists with a camera system that surpasses their expectations.</p>

<p><strong>Setting new standards in image resolution</strong><br />
Fujifilm has developed a new CMOS sensor called the X-Trans CMOS<sup>TM</sup>. The X-Trans CMOS<sup>TM</sup> sensor is capable of delivering resolution that is superior to other APS-C sensors.</p>
<p>The new colour filter array paves the way for an ideal sensor that does not need an optical low-pass filter. While the optical low-pass filter is indispensable for the reduction of moiré and false colour generated by conventional sensors, it also degrades resolution. Fujifilm has developed a new colour filter array that is inspired by the random arrangement of fine film grain, removing the need for an optical low-pass filter. In the array, RGB pixels are arranged in 6&#215;6 pixel sets with high aperiodicity (randomness). Increasing the degree of randomness eliminates the fundamental cause of moiré and false colours – a problem that occurs in conventional arrays when shooting stripes and other repeating patterns. The presence of an R, G and B pixel in every vertical and horizontal pixel series minimizes the generation of false colours and delivers higher colour reproduction.</p>
<p>As a result of using a film-inspired array, a more powerful processor is required to process the image signal data. So Fujifilm has developed the <strong>EXR Processor Pro</strong>. This technology will maximize the full potential of the X-Trans CMOS<sup>TM</sup>sensor, delivering high speed and high precision image processing.</p>
<p><strong>Prime FUJINON XF lenses deliver the highest image quality</strong><br />
FUJINON lenses have long been associated with delivering high quality images, with optics used for both broadcast TV and medium format cameras. Now the expertise borne out of this enviable optical heritage has been put into lenses for the FUJIFILM X-Pro1.</p>
<p>Three compact XF FUJINON fast aperture prime lenses will be available at launch. <strong>The XF18mmF2 R</strong> (27mm equivalent) f/2.0, <strong>XF 35mmF1.4 R</strong> (53mm equivalent) f/1.4, and <strong>XF60mmF2.4 R Macro</strong>(90mm equivalent) F/2.4 are all bright, compact and designed to deliver sharp, clear images of uncompromising quality. They offer precise control over depth-of-field and deliver excellent bokeh effects thanks to the design of the molded aperture diaphragm blades. The blades are curved to create a circular image at all aperture settings, while the very edges of each blade are meticulously rounded off rather than simply cut off, which delivers a sharper image. In addition, the solid feel of the high-quality metal barrel and detailed exposure setting in 1/3 step increments using the aperture ring fuel your desire to capture more photos with every shot.</p>
<p>To support the X-PRO1, Fujifilm will be releasing several more XF FUJINON premium quality lenses in the future, including a telephoto lens. More details will be available later this year.</p>
<p><strong>FUJIFILM original “X-Mount” maximizes lens performance</strong><br />
Specifically designed to maximize the mirrorless design of the body, the X-Mount has a short flange back distance of just 17.7mm. This means the rear lens elements are as close as possible to the sensor. The wide opening allows the lens to be mounted deeper within the body – up to 7.5mm (approximately) from the mount surface – reducing the back focus distance of each lens to the minimum possible, achieving high resolution to the edge of the image.</p>

<p><strong>Hybrid Multi Viewfinder – seeing is believing</strong><br />
First introduced in the FUJIFILM X100 digital camera, Fujifilm’s revolutionary Hybrid Viewfinder has the ability to instantly switch between an Optical Viewfinder and Electronic Viewfinder. The Hybrid Viewfinder has added a new dimension to composing photographs. For the brightest viewing image, and to keep shutter lag to a minimum, users can choose the Optical Viewfinder. Those wanting focus confirmation, exposure information, white balance information and depth of field indicators can switch to the Electronic Viewfinder.</p>
<p>The Electronic Viewfinder provides an excellent “Live View” of your composition. This fusion of technologies allows users to compose their images through a bright viewfinder yet has the option to overlay vital picture-taking information when required.</p>
<p>Changing between the two viewfinders is simple, thanks to the switch on the front of the X-Pro1 body. When attaching a FUJINON XF-series lens on the X-Pro1, both the viewfinder magnification and bright frame size automatically switch to support the lens focal length. Viewfinder magnification switches to 0.37x for the 18mm lens, and to 0.60x when the 35mm or 60mm lens is mounted, letting you compose your shot with the bright, crystal clarity of an optical image. The X-Pro1 also gives you the freedom to manually set a focal distance and switch between viewfinder magnifications.</p>
<p><strong>Cutting edge technology in a gorgeous camera body</strong><br />
The X-Pro1’s magnesium alloy chassis and improved user interface are a testament to Fujifilm’s unyielding attention to quality and the photographic needs of professionals. From the exact and deliberate placement of the buttons to the precision milled dials, the X-Pro1 beautifully encompasses all that is needed to deliver high quality photography. The top and base are made from die-cast aluminum alloy which, combined with high quality touches like precise engraving on the top-plate and hand-enameled lettering on the lenses, illustrates how the entire X-Pro1 system is designed and built without compromise.</p>
<p>This eye for detail extends to the shutter speed dial and exposure compensation control that is precision milled from solid metal. Details like the shutter speed dial lock mechanism and the recessed exposure compensation dial are designed to prevent accidental movement of settings. The knurled finish on the sides of the dials features rows of minutely milled squared pyramids for superb grip and confidence.</p>
<p>“Made in Japan”, a well-known mark of quality, confirms that every part of the construction has met Fujifilm’s highest standards.</p>
<p>The lightweight, precision-milled lens hood (included with the lens) has been exclusively designed and machined from aluminum for the FUJINON XF lens. Its compact size delivers superb light shading performance in a design that perfectly matches X-Pro1 styling. Diameters of the aperture and focus rings of the three FUJINON XF-series interchangeable lenses are only slightly larger than the barrel for sleek uniformity of design. Precision machined from metal, the reassuring click of the aperture ring at each setting and the comfortable torque resistance when operating the focus ring enhances the shooting experience.</p>
<p>The X-Pro1’s leather-like finish is designed for quality look and durability. The synthetic leather offers resistance to the elements, while an original manufacturing process produces a texture with the look and feel of authentic leather. X-Pro1 has been designed with the photographer’s comfort in mind with the natural fit of the eyepiece providing excellent shielding from light leakage. An optional dioptic adjustment lens can also be attached.</p>

<p><strong>Extending Fujifilm’s photo film legacy</strong><br />
In film cameras, capturing multiple exposures is the technique of superimposing one image on another by double exposing a single frame of film. Through advanced digital processing, the X-Pro1 can simulate this technique by simply selecting the <strong>Multiple Exposure mode</strong> and taking the first shot. By viewing the image through the Hybrid Multi Viewfinder or on the LCD screen, the photographer can see how the finished multiple exposure will look, then precisely frame the second shot.</p>
<p>Further enhancements have been made to Film Simulation modes with the new <strong>Professional Colour Negative Film Modes</strong> (Pro Neg. Std and Pro Neg. Hi) designed for X-Pro1 users working in the studio. The X-Pro1 also offers Film Simulation bracketing, along with AE, Dynamic and ISO bracketing; plus the ability to capture the colours and tonal qualities of popular FUJIFILM emulsions through the vibrant colours of Velvia, the softer skin tones of ASTIA and the natural look of PROVIA.</p>
<p>Replicating the effects of monochrome film photography, the X-Pro1 lets you use colour filters to expand your photographic interpretation. Heighten contrast with the yellow and red filter, or brighten greens and deepen reds with the green filter. Just as professional film photographers once selected a filter and printing paper to complement their creative vision, you can easily fine tune image quality with these filters. For those after a more nostalgic theme, there is also a sepia filter.</p>
<p><strong>Premium Accessory Lineup</strong><br />
The FinePix X-Pro1 has these additional premium accessory options that are sold separately:</p>
<p><strong>Hand Grip, HG-XPro1</strong> &#8211; Giving you more secure and balanced handling of the camera, the X-Pro1 accessory grip smoothly molds to the lines of the camera body for a uniform look. The grip helps balance the weight of the camera body, allowing for a more comfortable hold.</p>
<p><strong>Shoe Mount Flash EF-X20</strong> – Designed to match X-Pro1’s distinctive styling, a single dial lets you choose between two modes: AUTO &#8211; automatically optimizes flash for both outdoor daylight and dark indoor shots; and MANUAL &#8211; for hands-on control. In addition, the built-in flash diffuser has an easy one-touch process to soften harsh flash effects.</p>
<p><strong>Leather Case LC-XPro1*</strong> &#8211; Beautifully molded to protect the X-Pro1, this leather case is designed to allow fast access for easy shooting. Attention has been given to every detail, from the colour and spacing of the stitches to the use of a hidden magnet rather than a snap for closing the case. The premium case comes with an authentic leather neck-strap and hood case.</p>
<p><strong>Protector Filter 39mm and Protector Filter 52mm</strong> – These protection filters have high transmissivity without affecting the visible light and the Super EBC coating effectively controls harmful borrowed light. The frame of the filters has a semi gloss black finish while the inner filter ring is finished in a matte black to minimize reflections.</p>
<p><strong>M Mount Adapter Planned</strong> Fujifilm will be offering an adapter that will allow X-Pro1 customers to use M mount lenses. More details will be available in the near future.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">SYDNEY &#8211; Nikon Australia is pleased to announce the release of the AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G, a fast, medium-telephoto fixed focal length lens with a focal length of 85 mm and a maximum aperture of f/1.8 compatible with the Nikon FX-format.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G is the new addition to the FX-format lens lineup. It utilises an all new optical design allowing users to enjoy shooting portraits with pleasing blur characteristics only possible through fixed focal length lenses. Even with a fast maximum aperture of f/1.8, the AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G is very lightweight at roughly 350 g, allowing users to easily carry their camera around with this lens mounted.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The Silent Wave Motor (SWM) ensures not only quiet autofocus operations, but also makes autofocus shooting possible when the lens is used with entry-level Nikon DX-format digital-SLR cameras such as the D5100 and D3100.</p>
